Decades Bartender Wins Best Cocktail at VeloCity

Weston Fetterolf, Decades bartender, won first place in the 2024 VeloCity Cocktail Competition, a contest as part of Lancaster City Alliance’s big annual fundraiser event at Tellus360 on Thursday, September 19!
“We are really proud of Weston's efforts and victory in the VeloCity Cocktail Competition,” said Chris Trendler, Partner & Operations Manager at Decades. “The panel of professional judges this year added a new layer of credibility and raised the bar of expectations for the competition. Weston's approach to constructing the winning cocktail was thoughtful, creative, and he really challenged himself to use ingredients he found interesting. This shows through the drink giving it a level of interest, and complexity that clearly resonated with the guests and judges. Weston is a great part of the Decades team and we're excited to see him continue to explore his cocktail creativity.”
Weston created a beverage called Essence Of Royalty. It features Lancaster Distelleries White Rum, Campari, durian simple syrup, fresh lime & lemon juice, angostura bitters, egg white, triple sec, and ube syrup.
“Durian was one of the more challenging flavors I've worked with, but as soon as I tasted it, I needed to bring it to the competition,” said Weston, noting his process around creating the drink. “It was a fun challenge to take on, and an even better event to be apart of!”
Guests will be able to get the winning cocktail at Decades in the next month when it hits the menu.
The competition was judged by a panel of esteemed mixology experts that included Steve Wood, Benjamin Hash, and Frank Fontaine.
Each bartender had to create a cocktail featuring a spirit from Lancaster Distilleries.
Jamie Graybill from Proof of Lancaster received second place, Jen Splain from Passerine received third place, and the VIP guests People’s Choice Award went to Austin Grzymala from Zoetropolis Cinema Stillhouse.

The VeloCity celebration is the largest fundraiser for the Lancaster City Alliance, a non-profit working to ensure Lancaster is a clean, safe, and vibrant City for all. The organization works hard to elevate small businesses, nonprofits, and more, to create a thriving community.
The event featured a variety of food & beverage samples, a fashion show, live music, a silent auction, and more.
Decades is a 45-game retro arcade, bowling alley, restaurant, bar, and events venue in the City of Lancaster.
